Job Description:
Our Ottawa based government client is seeking a Software Developer for a long term contract. (3 yrs with 2 optional 1 yr periods).
All candidates must possess Enhanced Reliability security clearance.

Responsibilities include:
1. Gathering business requirement, conducting analysis, designing, documenting, developing, multidimensional cube, report and dashboard using Oracle Express/OLAP services;
2. Participating in the design and development of new application, multi-dimensional object and sub-module;
3. Documenting processes and data flows of application;
4. Developing and maintaining multi-dimensional objects and reports using Express and OLAP Oracle technology;
5. Developing and maintaining Web pages in Java flavour;
6. Implementing and supporting 3rd party applications and web based applications;
7. Developing and maintaining PL/SQL and SQL scripts;
8. Building test scenarios and conducting application tests;
9. Preparing documentation as requested by the Technical Authority;
10. Supporting and troubleshooting problems from the production environment;
11. Troubleshooting technical problems with beta and new release software, researching possible solution using the Internet and other resources;
12. Providing necessary documentation to promote application to production;
13. Performing code reviews and benchmark performance metrics;
14. Providing status reports to the Technical Authority.

The ideal candidate will have::
  • a minimum of 10 years experience developing, implementing and maintaining Information systems
  • a minimum of 5 years of experience developing scripts using SQL and PL/SQL
  • a minimum of 5 years of experience developing Oracle stored packages/procedures
  • a minimum of 5 years development experience with multi-dimensional OLAP concepts including defining and implementing dimensions Hierarchies, Relations and Cubes in a Data warehouse environment
  • a minimum of 4 years of hands-on development of Business Intelligence reports based on Oracle technology
  • a minimum of 4 years of hands-on development experience with each of the following tools/technologies: Oracle Express Server, Analyzer and Object 6.3.4 or higher
  • a minimum of 2 years hands-on developing experience with both Oracle OLAP option and Oracle Discoverer (Viewer/Plus, 10g admin, 10g Client).
  • experience gathering and analyzing user requirements in the context of BI and end users reporting
  • experience developing Java and Object-oriented programming as well as experience developing and maintaining web based application
  • experience in Oracle Express Server product installation and configuration including applying patches and performing upgrades
